Vegetalismo is the term used in Peru to refer to Shamanic plant medicine since the nineteenth century. Practitioners, Vegetalistas, are often of mixed origin and urban. They differentiate themselves from curanderos (healers) by emphasising their plant knowledge and work with plant spirits. They are also keen not to be labelled as brujos, (sorcerers.) Gilber did not call himself a Vegetalista but the plants he chose to grow in Yakumamay correspond to a standardised Vegetalismo set of plants listed and found in the gardens of Ayahuasca shamanism centres in the Iquitos area. This set is presented here to contextualise the Yakumamay Garden among local Shamans’ gardens
